About

Mitchell Tran is an emerging Asian Australian artist who works using traditional techniques to explore themes of identity, community and culture. As a descendent of immigrants, he draws inspiration from his Eastern upbringing and Western education to expand upon its by-product of a “third culture”, including its frequently conflicting ideologies and ambivalence.

Mitchell uses ink and paint to deconstruct themes of identity within the perpetually shifting cultural landscape of the 21st century. His use of composition and symbolism combines subjects from his cultural roots across East / South-East Asia and Australia to create a visual language which is reflective of the complexities of an interconnected world.

Mitchell lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
